Jordan Nassar's 'Fantasy and Truth' at ICA Boston

We would like to congratulate our dear friend Jordan Nassar on his upcoming new solo exhibition, 'Fantasy and Truth' at ICA Boston.

‘Fantasy and Truth’ presents a selection of Jordan’s intricate embroidered and mixed media works. Nassar, who’s been an integral part of Adish since its inception, draws on traditional Palestinian craft techniques to investigate ideas of home, land, and memory. His work, which he creates in collaboration with Palestinian embroiders and craftspersons, combines geometric patterns with abstracted landscapes, imbued, in the artist’s words, “with yearning, while hopeful and beautiful.” Through complex patterning and a unique attendance to form and color, the painterly aesthetic of Nassar’s embroidery allows the artist to explore relationships between craft and history in new contemporary dialogues.

In celebration of Jordan's new exhibition, we’ve created two hoodies available exclusively at ICA Boston. The hoodies were designed by Jordan to depict ICA’s logo in Tatreez.

Palestinian Tatreez embroidery is a centuries-old art form handmade by women in Palestine and traditionally passed down from mother to daughter. Tatreez is both a symbol and a process of resistance in the face of cultural erasure and Israel's ongoing occupation of Palestinian land.
